Ethos and Ideology

Saving the world!

Think about these facts for a moment, the average person in the USA generates nearly a ton of waste each year. 55% of that waste ends up in a landfill site. That fact is just about your regular garbage. Can you imagine how much waste is produced by business and industry each year? If this junk isn’t being burnt, or buried it’s being dumped in 3rd world countries and left to fester as someone else’s problem. There has to be a better way of dealing with our trash? Thankfully, there is! When you work with Newtech you are part of the solution, not part of the problem, but it’s more than that. By helping us reclaim materials, you’re helping put those materials back into productive circulation. This ensures ewaste stays out of the landfill sites; helps remove US dependency of other countries for materials, strengthens the economy and most importantly allows innovations to thrive in an ecologically sustainable system. As a Newtech employee you are literally helping to save the planet ecologically and save the economy in terms of resource dependencies. Newtech is the future and your future with Newtech starts here. See below or call us today for more details about current job opportunities.

Data Destruction Technician

Hard drive and memory wiping, sterilization and shredding.

Job description

By our estimations there are well in excess of 9 million hard drives in use within the business community of New Jersey.  Given it can take upwards of 1 hour just to format (wipe clean) the average hard drive, IT directors would need years to properly destroy these hard drives when it came time to replace them all.  That’s why Newtech offers the business community a ‘total’ hard drive and data destruction service, which includes wiping clean the disk with a software purge and an EMP blast, then finally shredding the hard drive into little bits.  All applicants for this job MUST: have no pacemaker or health issue that can be affected by an EMP.  Due to the security issues around data protection each applicant must pass a rigorous background check.  You will also be working in a secure environment which is monitored by CCTV 24/7.

Hours:

9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Subject to neg.  Please contact admin@newtechrecycling.com for more information or to apply.

Logistics and Warehouse Management

Careers in materials logistics, collections and warehouse management.

Job description

There are a wide range of jobs within the logistics and warehousing departments. Forklift and collection drivers are two of the most commonly perceived jobs. In fairness, there are considerably more career choices than just these two. Some of the management jobs involve working with account handlers to help organize collections and then the flow of collected items through the recycling facility. Newtech is extremely well organized and has a very proficient system. That said, there are days where a manager will be responsible for tons of electronic waste (ewaste) and fleets of trucks, so possessing a logical mind will really help for these kind of jobs.

FAQ’s About Ewaste Disposal and Electronics Recycling

HOW DO YOU GET RID OF OLD OFFICE SERVERS & NETWORK HARDWARE?

Regardless of whether an old office server is working or not, if it is scheduled for the trash it has to be disposed of correctly.  There are two main considerations; the first is that there should be no recoverable data on the hard drive or in the memory.  Before you start hammering nails through the hard disk, don’t worry, the data destruction team specialize in HDD wipes and shredding. The second consideration is that like all computers, printers, copiers and monitors, a server will need to be recycled, so please call to have it picked up and do not throw it out with the regular trash.

IS OFFICE JUNK REMOVAL FREE?

Office junk such as obsolete or broken PC’s, workstations, old laptops and other computers, printers, copiers, old fax machines and monitor do not really carry a high scrap value.  In fact it usually costs more to demanufacture ewaste than can be made from the reclamation of materials. That said, the main reason for collecting and recycling ewaste isn’t to reclaim a scrap value, it’s to ensure these products stay out of landfill sites.  Most office junk, especially the I.T. hardware is classified as toxic waste and if your firm is caught throwing its ewaste into the trash the State will prosecute.

WHO COLLECTS OLD BROKEN ELECTRICAL MACHINERY?

The ‘Newtech Corporate Electronics Recycling and Ewaste Collection Service’ usually consists of a team of three; however this number can change depending on the type of machinery or equipment being picked up.  The visitor to this page should note that this service is not a standard trash collection service, is for the collection and disposal of electronics considered too be ewaste.  For a full list of electrical equipment that Newtech removes and recycles please click here.

CAN WE DUMP OUR OFFICE PRINTERS IN THE GARBAGE DUMPSTER?

Most companies today know that they can’t dump their office PC’s in the trash can or dumpster, however, many are still unsure about printers, copiers and even phones.  It is safest to assume that anything with a plug on the end of it, in your office or business environment needs to be disposed of by an accredited ewaste recycler.

IS THERE A SPECIAL TRASH COLLECTION FOR OFFICE IT HARDWARE, COMPUTERS AND PC’S?

There is a special trash collection service for old, obsolete and even broken IT hardware and PC’s.  This is because unlike most electrical machinery computer hardware and even copiers can contain data that may infringe on the strict data protection laws.  ‘Newtech Corporate Electronics Recycling and Ewaste Collection Service’ provide a complete solution that manages not just the secure collection of data sensitive hardware but also permanent data deletion of any files or information held on those computers.

WHO TO CALL FOR TRASH COLLECTION OF OLD OFFICE IT AND PHONE EQUIPMENT?

If you want to speak to someone about arranging a pickup dial the sales team on: 732.564.3110.  If you have already arranged a collection and have a question please call the support team on: 732.564.3110.

WHAT ELECTRONIC MACHINERY NEEDS TO BE COLLECTED & RECYCLED BY LAW?

The question of what electronic equipment and IT hardware needs to be recycled is the most common.  To help please see the above list of the most commonly recycled electronics.  If your business has something that is not on the above list and you are not sure please call today for help.

DO WE NEED TO HAVE ALL IT HARDWARE AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT RECYCLED?

WHERE DO WE GO TO RECYCLE OLD EQUIPMENT AND OTHER SUCH EWASTE?

Where to go when looking to dispose of ewaste is a commonly asked question, the standard reply is “have your ewaste collected”. However, it is possible to bring your ewaste to the recycling facilities in NJ, NY and CT if you really want to, but please call to arrange a time beforehand.

WHO CAN RECYCLE OLD ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT?

Who can actually dispose of ewaste and electronics is a really good question; ideally you want a State certified ewaste recycler, which is exactly what the Newtech Corporate Electronics Recycling Program is. Using anyone else may result in your organization getting prosecuted if the service provider has failed to manage the ewaste correctly.

DO WE NEED TO HAVE ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT RECYCLED?

Yes.  The New Jersey business community is leading the way in sound ecological practices.
